The stone stayed. Almost everything else changed.
The cottage had been in an Ohio family for a long time, and it had a view it never used. A story and a half tall with seven foot ceilings on both floors, it was small and cramped, and it turned its back on some of the best lakefront on the shore. Now it had to hold grandchildren as well as children and guests.
The ground floor stone veneer was kept. Most of both floors behind it was gutted and reconfigured into a full two story cottage, with covered decks outside the main rooms so the lake is part of the house in every season.
Four full bedrooms, bay windows toward the water, and a new garage joined to the house by a breezeway round it out. It reads as a new cottage on the old stone base, which is what it is.
You guys really knocked it out of the park!

Outside, from the street to the lake.

The lake, straight through from the front door.
