Historic design for a new building.

This two-family lakefront home is new construction on the grounds of Chautauqua Institution, a designated historic district. The design had to meet the building standards of the district and blend in with the surrounding properties.

So the house takes its cues from its neighbors: steep gables, bay windows, decorative trim, and a porch that wraps the corner behind striped awnings.

It is two homes side by side. Each side has four floors, including a finished basement, its own wrap around porch, and unobstructed views of the lake. Structural engineering was by Siracuse Engineers of Buffalo.
