A new sunroom, a new front porch, and the same house underneath.
This is a single story house in Lakewood, near Chautauqua Lake, that dated from the 1970s. The owners wanted a better sunroom and a house that fit its neighborhood.
The firm raised the sunroom ceiling, insulated it, replaced the glass and added built-in shelving and an entertainment center. The room now opens to the dining room, so the house feels bigger and sees more of the lake. The vaulted ceiling has downlighting and a ceiling fan, and a heat pump keeps up with all that glass. Other windows facing the lake were replaced at the same time.
Outside, the house was moved toward a craftsman look. Three gable ends got extra overhang and craftsman brackets, and a small porch with a gate was added for the family’s dog, with timber frame style details the contractor suggested and the firm approved. New Wood built it, and the work finished in 2023.
